Introducing OHRP’s “Voices of Participants” Series!

Curious to hear what it’s like to participate in research from someone who has gone through it? Check out the new “Voices of Participants” series on the About Research Participation, Informational Videos page! Our first video features Nancy, who shares the experience of having her daughter participate in research.

5th Annual OHRP Exploratory Workshop “Beyond Altruism – Exploring Payment for Research Participation,” September 15

Circle the date – Thursday, September 15, for our 5th Exploratory Workshop examining payment for research participation. Come hear from experts about the current state of this practice and learn about the continued logistical and other challenges with paying people to participate in research.

The workshop will be provided as a free livestream with no prior registration required. Details will be posted on the Exploratory Workshop website soon.

Save the Dates for OHRP’s Two Upcoming Research Community Forums!

Come join us on September 20-21 in Fishers, Indiana for the Research Community Forum we co-sponsor with Indiana University titled “New Frontiers in Human Subjects Research.” Details coming soon!

Too busy in September? Then join us on October 25-26 in Reno, Nevada for the event we co-sponsor with the University of Nevada in Reno titled “Trust, Technology, and Consent.” Click here, links to an external website, opens in a new tab for more details.

Both these RCFs are in-person events and include an interactive workshop on day one for a deep dive into the HHS regulations for human research protections with OHRP staff.

New! “Learn About Research Participation” Poster

If you liked our “Learn About Participation” brochure (also available in Spanish), you will be pleased to know that it’s now available as a 11x17” poster that you can print and display at your institution.

This poster explains how research works, the important partnership between participants and researchers, what questions a potential volunteer should ask when making decisions about participation, and where to get trusted information about research participation.

Take advantage of these free informational materials for research volunteers! Find them at www.hhs.gov/ohrp/education-and-outreach/about-research-participation/printable-educational-materials/index.html

OHRP’s Luminaries Lectures Series Has a Brand-New Look!

Come check out our Luminaries Lecture Series to find thought-provoking discussions by experts in the research community on a variety of issues related to research ethics and research participation. The site currently features videos on the topic of Justice and includes new search functions that allow you to find topics of interest more easily.

Don’t forget that these videos provide a ready way to pick up CIP credits. They are also invaluable resources for researchers working in different domains.
