Join OHRP on Friday, July 12, 2024, for the 50th anniversary of the National Research Act Commemoration Event

On Friday, July 12th, from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EDT, OHRP will be hosting a virtual event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the National Research Act. Here are a few highlights:

  • Ivor A. Pritchard will provide a brief overview of how the initial regulations for human research protections came about and how OHRP was established. Dr. Pritchard will return to deliver this presentation after retiring from his position as Senior Advisor to the Director at OHRP in mid-June.
  • Ella Greene-Morton, President of the American Public Health Association, will talk about the work of a community ethics research review board that was formed following the Flint water crisis in Michigan and that she has supported since its beginning.
  • A distinguished panel including Jodi Halpern, Misha Angrist, Lee McIntyre, and Aaron F. Mertz, will discuss the challenges with preserving public trust in research and the changing notion of human research protection amidst rapid scientific and technological advances.

We are at another significant moment in human research. Do not miss this opportunity for reflection.
