HHS Budget in Brief

Every year, HHS proposes a budget to Congress to fund work that will start when the next fiscal year begins. The federal fiscal year starts on October 1st and ends on September 30th.

HHS Fiscal Year 2027 Budget in Brief

The Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 President’s Budget supports the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) mission to promote the health and well-being of all Americans. HHS proposes $111.1 billion in discretionary budget authority for FY 2027.

This budget demonstrates the Administration’s commitment to the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) agenda, making Americans the healthiest in the world through strategic investments to battle chronic disease and support advancements in health. The budget continues to prioritize resources to achieve HHS’s mission while saving taxpayer dollars.

  • HHS certifies that the HHS Chief Information Officer (CIO) has reviewed and had input in approving information technology (IT) Investments included in the below budget request documents.
  • Furthermore, both the HHS Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and HHS CIO have had a role in reviewing planned IT support for major programs and significant increases and decreases in IT resources as reflected in this budget.
  • Additionally, with respect to Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act (FITARA) implementation, the Agency has developed and implemented its plan to ensure that all common baseline FITARA responsibilities are in place. Finally, HHS confirms that all HHS components are utilizing incremental development practices as appropriate across their IT investment portfolio.
