HB 4982 - Make West Virginia Healthy Act of 2026

Signed on March 2, 2026 by Governor Patrick Morrisey

Reestablishes a statewide Healthy Lifestyles Program and creates a “Food is Medicine” program in the Medicaid Program, allowing nutrition-based interventions to address chronic diseases. It establishes the Office of Healthy Lifestyles to coordinate statewide efforts to reduce chronic disease, expand nutrition access, and promote physical activity in schools, including physical education requirements and a Healthy Lifestyles Fund. It also creates the Feed to Achieve Act, establishing a fund to increase student participation in nutrition programs through donations and partnerships, with funds restricted to providing food to students.
