OCR Releases Notice of Violation to Columbia University

Today, the HHS Office for Civil Rights released the following statement:

Given the unprecedented public interest in the Notice of Violation to Columbia University, publicized on May 22, 2025, and issued jointly by HHS and the Department of Education, the HHS Office for Civil Rights publicly releases the investigative findings, which may be found at: https://www.hhs.gov/hipaa/for-professionals/compliance-enforcement/agreements/ocr-joint-notice-of-violation-to-columbia.html.  The Notice of Violation concludes that Columbia University violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by acting with deliberate indifference towards student-on-student harassment of Jewish students from October 7, 2023, through the present.
