Secretary Kennedy and Secretary McMahon Celebrate Medical School Commitments to Increase Nutrition Training for Future Doctors
About the Event
HHS and the Education Department brought together leaders from 53 top medical schools in 31 states. The schools will require at least 40 hours of nutrition training starting in fall 2026, placing prevention and evidence-based nutrition at the center of medical training. HHS will invest $5 million to support this work and require Public Health Service officers to complete nutrition education. Training doctors to promote nutrition is a critical step in addressing chronic disease and supporting healthier communities.
