Secretary Kennedy Celebrates Bold State Action in Oklahoma, Louisiana on Latest MAHA Tour

WASHINGTON, DC—JUNE 28, 2025—U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. concluded the latest leg of his nationwide MAHA tour Friday with high-profile stops in Oklahoma City and Baton Rouge, where he stood alongside Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt and Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry to celebrate bold MAHA victories—including state bills, executive orders, and SNAP waivers—advancing the Make America Healthy Again agenda.

“Thank you, Governor Stitt and Governor Landry for your courageous and visionary leadership,” Secretary Kennedy said. “Your support is crucial in driving the Make America Healthy Again agenda, which is dedicated to transforming our nation from a sick-care system into a true health care system—one that prioritizes prevention, wellness, and long-term health outcomes for all Americans.”

OKLAHOMA

On Thursday, June 26, Governor Stitt and First Lady Sarah Stitt welcomed Secretary Kennedy to the state capitol for a rally launching the Make Oklahoma Healthy Again initiative. During the event, Governor Stitt signed a SNAP waiver to ban the purchase of soft drinks and candy as well as an executive order that:

• instructs the Department of Health to stop recommending municipalities put fluoride in water.
• directs the Departments of Corrections, Education, and Human Services (three agencies that supply meals to the public in various capacities) that the meals they serve cannot have artificial dyes or flavors.
• establishes an Advisory Council to give the Governor suggestions and advice on actions he can take to promote health in Oklahoma.

“For far too long, we have settled for food that has made us sicker as a nation,” said Governor Stitt. “In Oklahoma, we’re choosing common sense, medical freedom, and personal responsibility. President Trump and Secretary Kennedy have led the charge nationally; I’m grateful for their support as we Make Oklahoma Healthy Again.”

Secretary Kennedy and Governor Stitt also visited the Oklahoma City facility of Mom’s Meals to learn more about the company’s work creating medically tailored meals for vulnerable populations and the general public.

LOUISIANA

On Friday, June 27, Secretary Kennedy headed to the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the invitation of Governor Landry. There, they were joined by State Senator Patrick McMath who authored the state’s “MAHA bill” (SB14) which Governor Landry signed at the event. The Louisiana MAHA bill:

• restricts artificial food dyes and preservatives in school meals.
• mandates that physicians and physician’s assistants complete continuing medical education (CME) in nutrition and metabolic health.
• requires restaurants to disclose the use of seed oils.
• requires QR code labeling from food manufacturers alerting consumers to specific ingredients if present.

Cheered on by MAHA Moms and a crowd of hundreds, Governor Landry also signed a SNAP waiver to ban the purchase of soda and candy as well as a bill (SB19) to allow individuals to obtain ivermectin from pharmacies without a prescription.

In Louisiana, we’re putting parents back in charge, putting real food back on the table, and giving people the tools to take their health into their own hands.
