OHRP Research Community Forum (RCF) “Curating Connection” is at the University of Miami, April 10th & 11th, 2024!

Join OHRP in Coral Gables, FL as we co-host the next RCF, “Curating Connection”, with the University of Miami, the University of Florida, and the Johns Hopkins University!

Participate in interactive case studies with OHRP staff on day one to learn how to apply the regulations at 45 CFR 46. Day two kicks off with an exciting keynote on the challenges with conducting human research in extreme environments involving spaceflight participants. The afternoon offers three tracks of presentations for attendees to choose from: Development of Human Research Protection Programs (HRPP), Data Protection and Integrity, and Increasing the Diversity of Research Participants.

Take Advantage of OHRP’s Comprehensive Online Trainings!

If you are looking for a reliable set of foundational training on the ethical considerations and federal regulations for human research protections in the U.S., look no further. OHRP offers numerous online resources at no cost to you or your institution. These include:

  • A 5-lesson foundational training with completion certificates and that satisfies the NIH educational requirement for training on human research protections for investigators and key personnel
  • Interactive scenarios to learn what investigators should consider when involving human participants in research and what IRBs have to review before approving a research study
  • A collection of webinars presented by OHRP staff to provide detailed understanding of different parts of the regulations at 45 CFR 46.

OHRP is seeking nominations of qualified candidates to be considered for appointment as members of Secretary's Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections (SACHRP)

SACHRP provides advice and recommendations to the HHS Secretary on protections for human subjects in HHS-supported and conducted research. The request for nominations closes Saturday, January 20th, 2024. Nominations should be sent to SACHRP@hhs.gov For more information, please see the Federal Register notice here:

OHRP’s New Complaints Submission System

OHRP has the responsibility for oversight of compliance with the regulations for the protection of human research subjects at 45 CFR part 46.  OHRP reviews complaints involving human subjects research that fall under our oversight. To better serve the public, OHRP is now accepting the submission of complaints via an online form. Upon submission of a complaint, users will receive a submission confirmation notification along with a reference number for their records.
