HCUPnet

Description: HCUPnet is an on-line query system based on community level data from the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP). HCUPnet is based on aggregate statistics tables to speed up data transfer and protect individual records, so not all possible queries can be addressed. The system provides health care statistics and information for hospital inpatient only, as well as population-based health care data on counties. HCUP data are used for research on hospital utilization, access, charges, quality, and outcomes. The data are used to describe patterns of care for uncommon as well as common diseases; to analyze hospital procedures, including those that are performed infrequently; and to study the care of population sub-groups such as U.S. border populations like those identified at CDC WONDER (i.e., 44 counties within 100 kilometers (62 miles) and the U.S. Non-Border Region of the remaining counties). HCUP data can be used to identify, track, analyze, and compare hospital statistics at the national, regional, state, and border region levels.
