About Us

The Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy (OIDP) is located in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (ASH), Office of the Secretary (OS), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Our vision is a world free of infectious diseases.

Our mission is to provide strategic leadership and management, while encouraging collaboration, coordination, and innovation among federal agencies and stakeholders to reduce the burden of infectious diseases.

To achieve our mission, OIDP is organized into five divisions:

  • Division of Management and Operations
  • Division of Vaccines
  • Division of HIV/ Hepatitis/ Sexually Transmitted Infections
  • Division of Blood and Tissue Safety and Availability
  • Division of Federal Advisory Committee Management

OIDP uses a syndemics lens across all its work. We strive to ensure our programs and the information we share are accessible to everyone and meets the needs of populations who are affected by infectious diseases. Our work is grounded in a respect for all populations. We use a people-centered approach to foster a “whole person” approach to improve health outcomes.
