What agencies advocate for people with disabilities?

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) funds a variety of programs to help people with disabilities live safely in their communities.

The Disability Information and Access Line (DIAL) is a is free service run by ACL and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It helps people with disabilities learn more about rights, how and where to find local community services, and more.

Specialists are available from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET, Monday–Friday.

Find federal benefits you may be eligible for if you have a disability by using USA.gov’s benefit finder tool.

Other government agencies that support people with disabilities:

  • Access Board
  • Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
  • Department of Justice (DOJ)
  • Department of Labor (DOL)
  • Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • National Council on Disability

There are also state and local advocates and advocacy agencies nationwide.
