    HB 1006 - Ban on Lab-Grown Meat

    Prohibits the maufacture, sale, or distribution of food from cultured animal cells. Effective July, 1, 2025, violations may include fines, jail time, or business license suspension.

    Governor Glenn Youngkin signed companion bills prohibiting public schools from serving food made with certain artificial food dyes. Virginia became the second state to institute this synthetic food dye ban to protect children’s health.
