Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) FAQ
Guidance for FAQ regarding 820 Transaction and Processing
Issued by: Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
Issue Date: September 17, 2014
Program Area: Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP)
Question: If an FF-SHOP issuer does not receive a weekly 820 file, how will the issuer know if they missed a file?
Answer: A matching 820x218 Payment Order goes to the bank with an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Trace Number. To detect a missing file, Federally-facilitated Small Business Health Options Program (FF-SHOP) issuers will notice a deposit to the issuer's bank account with an EFT Trace Number without an associated 820 Remittance.
