Guidance for FAQ regarding Issuer Participation Requirements and HICS

Question: Does the Federally-Facilitated Small Business Health Options Program (FF-SHOP) intend to use the Health Insurance Casework System (HICS) for 834 transactions not supported on Day 1?

Answer: The FF-SHOP will support transactions such as: - employee name change - updates to Date of Birth (DOB), Social Security Number (SSN), and gender The FF-SHOP will communicate these changes to issuers through 834 maintenance transactions. Thus, the FF-SHOP does not intend to use HICS for this purpose.
