Re-Determination of Low-Income Subsidy Eligibility for 2009
Guidance for Part D Plan Sponsors about how to re-determine beneficiary low-income subsidy (LIS) eligibility, the Optional Grace Period for individuals who no longer automatically qualify for LIS, a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) for those who lose LIS eligibility, expectations for outreach to members who no longer automatically qualify for LIS and steps sponsors may take to ease their transition, and two files CMS will send to sponsors identifying individuals notified about their loss of LIS. Also includes a model script sponsors can use when contacting those losing eligibility, to help see how the sponsor can provide assistance.
