New Claims Modifier Requirement for Drugs and Biologicals from a Single-Dose Container or Single-Use Package
The purpose of this Change Request (CR) is to update Pub. 100-04 Medicare Claims Processing Manual, Chapter 17 – Drugs and Biologicals, Section 40 - Discarded Drugs and Biologicals to reflect revised provisions effective January 1, 2023, including requirements for the new JZ modifier beginning July 1, 2023. The CR also instructs contractors to conduct periodic audits of Part B claims beginning July 3, 2023.
