MLN Product (New): Checking Medicare Claim Status
This new Product comprises Subregulatory Guidance for affected providers and its content is based on publicly available content within https://www.cms.gov/Regulations-and-Guidance/Guidance/Manuals/Downloads/clm104c01.pdf. CMS policy or operation subject matter experts also reviewed/cleared this product. This Product educates providers on how to get claim status information electronically, including:
• What happens after I submit a claim?
• How do I know my accepted claim’s status, and when should I check payment status?
• What’s a clean claim and the waiting period?
• Which NPI number should I use?
This Product will be available to the public and posted on the CMS website at https://www.cms.gov/Outreach-and-Education/Medicare-Learning-Network-MLN/MLNProducts/MLN-Publications.
