There are a variety of resources that can help you find grant funders that are a good fit for your program. The section below offers suggested sources to start your search.

  • Foundation Directory Online: A database of private foundations*
  • Grants.gov: A hub that all applicants for federal grants must use
  • GrantStation: A database of possible grant sources*
  • GuideStar: A services that connects funders with nonprofits
  • State government funding may be available through agency-specific grants and contracts: To research these opportunities, review specific agency websites or contact agency staff

Grants can help start a program or fund a specific project within a program, but keep in mind that grants typically only cover certain activities and provide funding for a limited time.
