Distributed Data Collection (DDC) for RA Including HCRP/EDGE Server FAQ

Guidance for FAQ regarding Edge Server Operations and Technical - User Roles/Registration

Issued by: Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)

Issue Date: November 14, 2014

Program Area: Distributed Data Collection (DDC) for RA Including HCRP/EDGE Server

Question: Does the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) permit issuers to have multiple servers for a single issuer ID so that issuers could use one (1) Third Party Administrator (TPA) to submit and reconcile pharmacy claims and a separate TPA to submit and reconcile medical and supplemental claims?

Answer: Organizations cannot set up multiple EDGE servers for the same issuer ID. All four (4) file types must be loaded onto the same server in order for the Risk Adjustment (RA) and Reinsurance (RI) calculations to run correctly.
