The Office harnesses the power of collaboration, scientific analysis, data-driven innovation, and emerging technologies for advancing initiatives across the Department, including in the areas of behavioral health, health equity, kidney disease, Long COVID, infection-associated chronic conditions, mother-infant dyad, sickle cell disease, and traumatic brain injury. The Office leverages science and data to identify critical health gaps as well as leads coordination to drive solutions to close those gaps. There are several portfolios in the Office and it also hosts the Office of Long COVID Research and Practice. The Office supports science-driven policy approaches of the Assistant Secretary for Health, which oversees U.S. Department of Health and Human Services public health offices and programs, several Presidential and Secretarial advisory committees, 10 regional public health offices across the nation, and the Office of the Surgeon General and the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
