Use of Invalid End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) “Temporary” Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Certification Numbers (CCN)
Guidance for: This memorandum to state survey agency directors notifies them that End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Networks have issued numbers denoted as "Temporary CCNs" to non-certified ESRD facilities when only CMS Regional Offices have the authority to assign CCNs. It also provides notification of the action CMS has taken in regards to this issue.
