Issued by: Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
Issue Date: October 14, 2014
Program Area: Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP)
Question: What should Federally-facilitated Small Business Health Options Program (FF-SHOP) issuers enter for "Premium Paid to End Date" and "Last Premium Paid Date" on 834 effectuation transactions when an issuer has not yet received the initial payment because of end of the month timing issues?
Answer: As documented in the 834 Companion Guide, these data elements are optional for FF-SHOP transactions. Thus, issuers should leave this data element blank if issuers have not yet received the initial payment when sending the 834 effectuation transaction.
