Guidance for FAQ regarding 834 Transaction and Companion Guide

Question: When are issuers expected to send 999 confirmation transactions?
Answer: CMS expects issuers to send 999 confirmation transactions in response to 834 enrollment transactions sent to them from the Data Services HUB. CMS does not expect issuers to send 999 confirmation transactions in response to the Group XML file, since the Group XML file is not an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transaction.
