Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) FAQ
Guidance for FAQ regarding 834 Transaction and Termination Transaction
Program Area: Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP)
Question: What are the employer reporting requirements for terminations? If someone leaves employment on the 30th of the month, how long does the group have to notify the FF-SHOP that the 30th is the last day of coverage?
Answer: Terminations may be reported to the FF-SHOP on any day of the month, and the termination effective date will be the last day of that month regardless of when it is reported during the termination month. Retroactive terminations for employee/dependent terminations are generally not supported by the FF-SHOP system.
