Question: What is the effective date for death of an employee or dependent?

Answer: The effective date for death of an enrollee is the date of the death. Premiums owed to Issuers when a death occurs will be pro-rated. When an employee dies, dependents will also be removed from the policy as of the date of death. Enrollees losing coverage will be eligible for a special enrollment period in the Individual Marketplace.
