Skilled Nursing Facilities Payment Models Research Technical Report
Guidance for an introduction to a comprehensive alternative to the current resident classification
model (case-mix adjustment) within the skilled nursing facility (SNF) prospective payment
system (PPS). Information is provided on the background of the current SNF
PPS, introduces the Resident Classification System, Version I (RCS-I), and describes the
advantages of the recommended reimbursement model.
