Reinsurance-Contributions (RIC) FAQ
Guidance for FAQ regarding Form Completion/Submission and Other
Issued by: Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
Issue Date: November 13, 2014
Program Area: Reinsurance-Contributions (RIC)
Question: What should the naming convention be for the Supporting Documentation (.CSV file)?
Answer: Applicable to All Reinsurance Contributions Benefit Years: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) encourages entities to use the following naming convention, Insert ReportingEntityLBN_BY_Insert SubmissionDate, however this is not required. For example, using 'XYZ Company' for the 2016 benefit year, the file naming convention would be XYZCompany_BY2016_11_07_2016. The naming convention cannot contain special characters or the Supporting Documentation (.CSV file) will be rejected. Other naming conventions are permitted as long as they do not contain special characters. A list of special characters is available in the Supporting Documentation File Layout document for the applicable benefit year, which can be found in the Registration for Technical Assistance Portal (REGTAP) Library when you filter by 'Reinsurance-Contributions' and the applicable benefit year.
