Guidance for FAQ regarding Edge Server Operations and Policy

Program Area: Distributed Data Collection (DDC) for RA Including HCRP/EDGE Server

Question: How do issuers identify the discharge status code on outpatient or institutional claims when they do not have a discharge date?

Answer: You should use the field 'Statement Covers Through' (XML element name statementCoverToDate) to indicate the end of outpatient service. For inpatient claims, this would be the discharge code. For additional information, please refer to the current Interface Control Document (ICD) Version, located under the Distributed Data Collection (DDC) program area at https://www.REGTAP.info in the REGTAP Library.
