Question: Will the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) be changing the data type for the Fill Number from integer to string?
Answer: No. The data type for Fill Number will not be changed from integer to string. Issuers may submit a value of '01' or '1' on the inbound pharmacy file; neither value will be rejected. The value that will be stored in the data table will be '1'.
