Medicare Fee for Service for Parts A & B - Medicare Utilization for Part A
Guidance for Medicare utilization statistics for Part A (Hospital Insurance HI) as well as tables for the Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MEDPAR) of Short-Stay Hospitals and Medicare utilization for Part B.
The Medicare Utilization for Part A reports provide data on how Medicare Part A services are used by beneficiaries. Part A covers hospital inpatient care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice, and some home health care. These reports include counts of beneficiaries receiving Part A services, the volume of services used (such as hospital stays or skilled nursing days), and Medicare payments associated with those services, often broken down by service type, geography, and provider. Overall, they give insight into patterns of inpatient and facility‑based care utilization and spending under Medicare Part A.
