Thursday, July 17, 2014

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Adolescent Health (OAH), through a competitive process, awarded a two-year cooperative agreement to Advocates for Youth in the amount of $890,000 to implement three Community Collaborative Academies; one at Children’s Hospital and the Youth Policy Institute in Los Angeles, CA, one in Washington, DC with the DC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, and one in Orangeburg, SC at the New Morning Foundation.

The Academies will comprise teams of stakeholders in communities with high teen pregnancy rates. Each team will develop and implement an evidence-based, community-driven strategy for teen pregnancy prevention, using media messaging and access to a range of health and social services.

Funding is provided through OAH’s Teen Pregnancy Prevention Tier 2 – Research and Demonstration Program.
