Program Summary

Project Overview: Arizona Youth Partnership (AYP) will deliver its “Starting Out Right for Teen Parents” program (SORTP) to low-income expectant and parenting teens ages 14-19 residing in Maricopa and Pima Counties, AZ. The SORTP is a risk reduction model that will deliver an innovative combination of pre- and post-natal supports to enrolled expectant and parenting teens in five formats: 1) case management services; 2) group pregnancy education classes (prior to delivery); 3) home visits; 4) interactive virtual learning sessions with a health educator; and 5) use of a companion mobile app. AYP is eager to test the effectiveness of this new service delivery combination as a way to reach teens more efficiently and effectively in the electronic age, and also to provide a high level of intensive support within the first 6 months after giving birth – a critical time in RRP prevention and personal skill building.

Target Population: Expectant and parenting teens ages 14-19

Geographic Area Served (Urbanicity of Community): Maricopa and Pima Counties, AZ (Urban)
