Program Summary

Project Overview: The Tucson Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition's Mobilization for Positive Futures Project works in the San Xavier and Tucson South communities, which have some of the highest teen birth rates in Arizona, to provide evidence-based Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) programming. The Coalition intends to reduce teen birth rates in these communities in three ways: 1) by providing evidence-based TPP curricula to 10,600 youth ages 11-19 over the course of the grant; 2) by training school staff and community members in the evidence-based TPP curricula; and 3) by generating community support to adopt evidence-based TPP curricula in the schools.

Target Population: Youth ages 11-19 years old

Geographic Area Served (Urbanicity of Community): San Xavier and Tucson South subdivisions of Pima County (Some suburban)

Teen Birth Rate in Area Served (Per 1,000): 73 (Tucson South) and 95.1 (San Xavier)
