Project Description

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (WDPI) will implement the Wisconsin In School Pregnant/Parenting Interventions, Resources and Education (InSPIRE) project in eight high-need schools districts: Fond du Lac, Green Bay, Janesville, Madison, Milwaukee, Racine, Walworth County Alternative, and West Allis-West Milwaukee. This project will use intensive case management and multi-strategy school-based services to improve the educational, economic, health, and social outcomes for expectant and parenting youth and their children. InSPIRE programs will address: academic instruction; case management; counseling; vocational guidance and career planning; and instruction on prenatal and neonatal care, child development, infant and child care, nutrition, family planning, and adoption. Additionally, WDPI will enhance statewide coordination of services, provide training and technical assistance, and conduct an evaluation across sites.
