Minnesota Department of Health
Settings: High Schools, Community Service Centers, Institutions of Higher Education
The Minnesota Department of Health will implement the Minnesota Expectant and Parenting Student Program (MEPSP) to serve expectant and parenting teens, women, and fathers ages 13-24 and their families, with an emphasis on serving youth of color including American Indian youth. MEPSP will operate in three communities: the City of Minneapolis, Kandiyohi County, and the Northwest Indian Community Development Center. The program aims to improve participants’ health and educational outcomes by identifying risks and needs, offering care coordination, and providing referrals to support services and agencies. Program staff will have on-going contact with participants and their families and monitor risks and needs that arise as students pursue their academic and health goals.
