Sean McCluskie

Chief of Staff

Department of Health and Human Services

Sean McCluskie serves as the Chief of Staff at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Prior to this role, he served as the Chief Deputy Attorney General at the California Department of Justice, where he oversaw the daily operations of the department. During his tenure, he oversaw the creation of the Health Care Rights and Access Legal Section, the Disability Rights Bureau, and expansion of the Division of Medicaid Fraud and Human Trafficking Law Enforcement Section. Previously, he served as Chief of Staff and Health Care Counsel for Congressman Xavier Becerra and the House Democratic Caucus. Sean has a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland at College Park and J.D. from The George Washington University.
