Use data visualization and video tools to improve data training and education of ACYF staff working with state child welfare agencies.
ACYF is responsible for the analysis of large datasets and the dissemination of key findings that are critical to understanding and serving at-risk children, youth, and families. Staff working directly with state child welfare agencies should be well-versed in interpreting these data to encourage data-driven decision-making and assist them in monitoring compliance. However, many staff do not have the appropriate level of knowledge required to do this, in large part because the traditional methods for disseminating data and providing training to enhance our workforce have been inadequate.
Emulating the Khan Academy style of presenting information in short videos that are available on demand, the team proposes to use analytic tools to develop visually appealing data presentations in short easily digested video tutorials. This will revolutionize our training curriculum and increase data utilization to improve outcomes for children and families.
