NHSC Online Jobs Center
| Recruiting primary care providers – doctors, nurses, dentists, and mental health providers – is a costly and time consuming effort, especially for health care sites in underserved areas. Recruiting one physician to a high need area can take up to two years and cost $60,000. Increasing access to high quality care is an HHS priority. The National Health Service Corps NHSC Jobs Center is an online employment site connecting primary care health professionals to more than 14,000 employers in underserved communities throughout the U.S. and U.S. territories. Accessible from a personal computer, Smartphone or similar device, the Jobs Center showcases job openings along with a wealth of information about the health care facility. Google Maps and Google Places technologies are integrated into the Jobs Center allowing users to see the site and nearby places of interest (restaurants, schools), painting a picture of the community. Since Jobs Center launch on April 30, 2012, the site had more than 126,000 visits and 3,000+ new job opportunities posted. Health care sites immediately experienced the benefits. Presbyterian Medical Services in New Mexico reported they “…consistently receive 12-15 inquiries from providers per week. Prior to that, we received little to no inquiries.” Contact Info: Rebecca Spitzgo, Associate Administrator, HRSA, Bureau of Clinician Recruitment and Service, (301) 443-1589, rspitzgo@hrsa.gov Websites: |
