	      <description><![CDATA[The Office of Population Affairs announces the availability of funds for cooperative agreements under the Embryo Donation and/or Adoption Awareness program. The purpose of this funding is to increase the public's awareness of the use of frozen embryos as a family building alternative. The maximum amount of funding that will be considered for a single application under this announcement is $500,000. There is no minimum amount which can be requested. 	      <title>OAPP Announces a New Acting Director  - 10/8/08</title>
	      <description>Alicia Richmond Scott has been appointed as the Acting Director for the Office of Adolescent Pregnancy Programs (OAPP). Ms. Scott also serves as a Public Health Analyst with OAPP. She has worked in the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) for more than 10 years where she monitors AFL prevention and care demonstration grants. In addition to her project officer responsibilities, she provides policy and program development in areas such as teen pregnancy and reproductive health to the office and leads the annual grantee conferences and evaluation projects. Ms. Scott received her Masters degree in Social Work from Howard University in Washington, D.C.</description>

	      <description>Between fiscal years 2005-2007, the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) made a series of research awards through two standing announcements-one for Title X Service Delivery Improvement research and one for Title XX Adolescent Family Life research. These announcements invited and funded research proposals, on an annual basis, for three years. A new Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) - PAR-08-999 - is posted on http://www.Grants.gov. Under this FOA, OPA intends to make available approximately $750,000 to support 3-4 new grants in the years 2008, 2009, and 2010. 	      <title>OPA Announces the Availability of Approximately $1.5 million for Natural Family Planning Research Grants</title>
	      <description><![CDATA[The Office of Population Affairs announces the availability of funds to strengthen the evidence base for NFP practices through the study of social and cultural factors that influence NFP use and document its effectiveness in preventing unintended pregnancies. OPA is requesting applications from public and private non-profit organizations, including community-based organizations. OPA expects to make new awards to five to ten projects sites with annual awards from $150,000 to $200,000. FY2008 funds will be awarded to funded projects for a period of up to three years. The due date for submission is July 25, 2008.
