News Release HHS Awards Four New Grants to Improve Delivery of Family Planning Services October 9, 2007 The Office of Population Affairs (OPA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, today announced the award of four new Family Planning Service Delivery Improvement (SDI) Research Grants totaling $746,826. The purpose of these projects is to support relevant research with the goal of recommending service improvements in family planning clinics funded by the Title X family planning program. These research grants are the third, and final, set to be funded under an announcement of research priorities issued in 2005 for research in several priority topic areas. The new research projects focus on “Reproductive Health Services to Males”; “Family Planning Services to Couples”; and “Organizational Approaches to Integrated Services.” Eight other SDI research projects have been awarded over the past two years to examine topics such as “Quality of Care” and “Reproductive Health Care to Adolescents/Parental Involvement.” The following are the recipients of the 2007 family planning SDI research grant awards: Emory University, Atlanta, GA, funded for $199,118; Guttmacher Institute, New York City, NY, funded for $198,852; Montana State University, Bozeman, MT, funded for $149,572; and Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR, funded for $199,284.
