Title XX Introduction: Target Population
AFL grantees are unique and serve a variety of populations. By law, AFL grantees serve youth ages 9-18, both girls and boys. In addition to youth, grantees also serve parents, extended family members, children of teen parents, teen fathers, and husbands and/or male partners of teen parents with whom they are in a long-term relationship. Prevention projects serve youth who are not pregnant or parenting. Care projects serve youth who are already pregnant or parenting. A multitude of cultures are served through AFL grantees. Some grantees may focus on a specific refugee population while others may be open to an entire school district with a diverse population base. AFL projects serve populations most in need of prevention or care services. Applicant organizations must demonstrate the need of the target population. This is a major factor that is considered when awarding these grants. << PreviousNext >> |
