Adolescent Brain "Under Development"

This section offers an overview of the structural and “wiring” changes taking place in the human brain during adolescence. The second wave of synapse formation that occurs in the brain during the teen years and the critical role of experience—the “use it or lose it” principle are also described in this section. An introduction to the regions of the brain undergoing major changes during adolescence and the neurological events occurring in these regions are also reviewed.
