The Annual AFL Care Grantee Conference
“Advancing the Care of Pregnant and Parenting Adolescents and their Families”
January 26 – January 28, 2010
The Office of Adolescent Pregnancy Programs (OAPP) welcomes Adolescent Family Life (AFL) Care grantees to the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel in Norfolk, VA. This year's theme is "Advancing the Care of Pregnant and Parenting Adolescents and their Families." This year's conference will identify ways AFL Care Grantees can contribute to the general body of knowledge about adolescent health and teenage pregnancy, as well as learn new strategies to enhance future programming. This conference will provide a scientific and professional forum to share insights, research findings, and best practices to support advancements in the field of teenage pregnancy and parenting. The conference is divided into four targeted educational tracks: Adolescent Health; Project Management; Evaluation; and Research. Each conference topic will build upon the wealth of expertise brought by AFL grantees and help to achieve the overall conference objectives.
Conference Objectives:
- To improve pregnancy, parenting and educational outcomes among youth served in AFL Care Demonstration projects;
- To increase knowledge and strategies in preventing repeat unintended pregnancies for youth in AFL Care Demonstration projects;
- To improve the capacity of AFL Care grantees to manage and evaluate AFL Care demonstration projects more effectively; and,
- To increase scientific knowledge of issues related to adolescent pregnancy through research and evaluation dissemination
