HHSIdentity Program Vision and Mission Statement
Program Vision and Mission Statement
Program Vision: The HHSIdentity Program will institute a federated IAM model that:
- Allows large OPDIVs with significant IAM investments (NIH, CDC, CMS and FDA) to continue to develop individual IAM Services and ensure that they have the ability to federate with external HHS IAM services and service external to HHS.
- Establishes the Enterprise IAM Service supporting:
- OS and Small OPDIVs
- Enterprise Systems
- Indian Health Service
- Establishes the Enterprise Repository containing the core set of identity attributes with standards-based exchange of identity information between OPDIVs.
- Provides standards-based authentication and system access between IAM services.
- Provides standards-based authentication and system access for users external to HHS leveraging the E-Authentication framework.
Program Mission: The HHSIdentity Program will deploy and implement IAM services to exchange identity information and authentication credentials providing effective, efficient, and secure access to systems within HHS, to external systems, and access to HHS systems by external users leveraging both PIV-II and E--Authentication credentials.
