Goal of Enterprise Identity Management

The HHSIdentity Program will institute a federated IAM model that:

• Supports large OPDIVs existing and planned IAM investments
• Establishes the Enterprise IAM Service supporting:
  • OS and Small OPDIV’s, Enterprise Systems, Indian Health Service
• Enables use of HSPD-12 PIV card for logical access
• Establishes standards and systems to enable interoperability across HHS
• Establishes capability to assign a unique personal identifier for HHS users
• Establishes an Enterprise Repository containing the core set of identity attributes with standards-based exchange of identity information between OPDIV’s
• Provides standards-based authentication and system access between IAM services
• Provides standards-based authentication and system access for users external to HHS leveraging the E-Authentication framework
