What We Do:

The domain pillars of Health and Human Services, Administrative and Management and Scientific Research support the HHS Mission and Vison which is all supported by Shared Services.

The HHS Domain IT PMO helps solve problems that are IT-related in a variety of projects and programs. While it mainly supports the Health and Human Services Domain (HHSD), the Administration and Management Domain (AMD), and the Scientific Research Domain (SRD), it also supports other special projects. The Domain IT PMO ensures realization of optimal value from IT investments by:

  1. Addressing key HHS-wide IT policy, security, and architecture issues
  2. Maximizing smart sharing of knowledge, best practices, assets, and capabilities
  3. Encouraging shared services throughout HHS for efficiency, cost reduction, and overall IT integration
  4. Implementing and executing expedited management processes for all IT investments

How We Provide Value:

The Domain IT PMO has demonstrated dedication to their mission in the following ways:

  • Acts as the Executive Secretariat for the ACA Health Insurance Exchange (HIX) and facilitates all cross-agency workgroups associated with program implementation, resulting in better coordination and efficiency
  • Created workgroups in the Scientific Research Domain that enabled collaboration across OPDIVs
  • Facilitated introductions to DPMS for the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals (OMHA) to expedite the navigation through the initial stage gates of the EPLC for the Medicare Appeals System. Created communication between OMHA and OCR which resulted in a demonstration of the OCR case management system to assess system capabilities versus OMHA requirements
  • Applied existing tools for ICD-10 translation by securing unused licenses for the 3M Code Translation Tool from CMS, and redistributing them to five other OPDIVs in need of licenses
  • Advise Federal Occupational Health (FOH) in obtaining Steering Committee initiation and concept phase approval of their electronic health record system in an attempt to reduce duplicative investments, and leverage existing information and resources
