NVAC working groups address topical issues in a timely manner. Each working group has a specific charge, a timeline, and identified membership which may include nonmember consultants. The working groups are chaired by NVAC members. Federal Ex-Officio members and the NVPO are responsible for staffing the working groups and providing assistance to the Chairs.
Charged with reviewing the current state of HPV immunization, understanding the root cause(s) for the observed relatively low vaccine uptake (both initiation and series completion), and identifying existing best practices all with a goal of providing recommendations on how increase use of this vaccine in young adolescents. The group recently proposed recommendations to NVAC.
Charged with reviewing the state of maternal immunizations and existing best practices, the working group completed the report: Reducing Patient and Provider Barriers to Maternal Immunizations in June 2014.
Charged to report on how confidence in vaccines impacts the optimal use of recommended childhood vaccines in the US, including reaching HP2020 immunization coverage targets, the group drafted recommendations: Assessing the State of Vaccine Confidence in the United States.
