Secretary Sebelius announces new HHS regional director

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced today that Stephene Moore will be appointed Region VII Director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“I am very pleased to announce that Stephene Moore, RN will be appointed Region VII Director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,” said Secretary Sebelius.  “Stephene brings extensive experience to the job from her time in the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs at HHS and as a longtime nurse, specializing in obstetrics and women’s health.  Since joining the department last year, she has worked to enhance our relationships with providers, a wide range of national health organizations, and other critical stakeholders.  We are excited for her to bring her passion for health and prevention to our team of regional directors as they work to educate Americans about our many programs.”

Biography
Stephene Moore, Regional Director, Region VII (IA, KS, MO, NE) Stephene Moore has served as a Senior Advisor in the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs at HHS for the last year, where her primary task has been promoting an understanding of HHS policies and activities related to the Affordable Care Act.  Prior to joining HHS, Moore spent five years as the Project Coordinator for the University of Kansas’ intern program in Washington, DC.  Moore, a nurse for nearly 30 years, has focused her career on women’s health and education, including service on the Johnson County Community College Foundation and the University of Kansas School of Nursing Advisory Board.  She has led international medical missions to Eastern Europe and Central America, and is interested in improving public health through prevention and education. A graduate of the University of Kansas, Moore has served on many local, national, and international boards in a variety of capacities. Moore lives in Lenexa, Kansas with her husband.
