Babies and salmonella

Dr. Frederick Angulo of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the study found salmonella can infect many children and make them very sick.

"First, we found that salmonella is a common infection in the United States, with over one million people infected with salmonella each year. Secondly, we found that 10 percent of these infections are in infants; that is, children less than one year of age. Thirdly, we found that these infections in infants were particularly severe, with a high proportion of them hospitalized." (20 seconds)
