Running less risk

You can’t improve your health by going back in time and switching to a different set of parents, so whatever risk of heart disease and stroke is in your genes will have to stay there. But there’s a lot you can change. Researchers have said that deaths by cardiovascular disease could fall by half if everyone took control of these preventable risks. At the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Amy Valderrama tells what they are:
“Things you can change would be high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, eating a diet high in saturated fats, cholesterol and sodium, being physically inactive, and being overweight or obese.”
Regular checkups are also important.
